General Purpose Emergency Spill Kit

Each general emergency spill kit contains items to keep personnel safe during an accident and clean it up comprehensively and safely. Emergency spill kit contents include:

• Bin or container: The bright yellow wheelie bin makes it easy to move the materials to an incident’s location for a fast cleanup.

• Absorbent materials: Highly absorbent materials start soaking up the spill immediately. The non-hazardous nature of a general purpose spill means it's often possible to replenish any used materials later using emergency spill kit refills.

• PPE: Basic PPE, including gloves and goggles, should be on top of the other emergency spill kit contents, allowing employees to put them on immediately when responding to a leak.

• Disposal supplies: Sturdy, non-leak plastic bags enable safe disposal of saturated cloths and absorbent materials, while preventing the absorbed fluids from dripping back onto the floor.

• Warning sign: A highly visible sign warns others of a spill so they avoid the area before, during, or after it’s cleaned up, reducing the risk of any slips.

General purpose spill kit sizes

Emergency spill kits range in size from 120 litres to 1,000 litres. Sizes suitable for commercial premises, from small independent shops to large supermarkets and warehouses, are available.

Choose and combine any number and size of general spill kits to meet your capacity needs, wherever you need them.

Our general purpose emergency spill kits are available in the following sizes:

• 120 litre general purpose spill kits: best for small premises and individual rooms.

• 240 litre general purpose spill kits: ideal for small accidents with a standard-size wheelie bin)

• 360 litre general purpose spill kits: suitable for medium spills, like in restaurant kitchens.

• 500 litre general purpose spill kits: includes a bigger four-wheel bin best for medium to large spills.

• 1000 litre general purpose spill kits: the largest option for large spillages, such as in warehouses and supermarkets.

We recommend buying the size up from your estimated needs where possible, to avoid running out of emergency spill kit contents when an accident happens.Benefits of general purpose spillage kits

General purpose spillage kits are versatile for safely dealing with non-hazardous leaks and spills. They protect against customer accidents, poor employee handling, and incidents that may arise from damaged packaging during delivery.

Whatever the cause, having a general spillage kit close at hand provides many benefits:

• Protect employees: As an employer, you have an obligation to protect your workforce. Emergency spillage kits provide the equipment and materials to control an incident and minimise risks for employees.

• Reduce slip risks: Slips, trips, and falls are common causes of workplace injury. A fast and effective response to a spill can reduce wet floor risks for employees and customers alike.

• Quick cleanups: Wheel your portable emergency spill kit directly to the scene for a fast response. Easy movement provides full access to your general purpose spill kit contents where you need them.

• Save money: Clearly labelled spill kit containers prevent employees from wasting valuable materials trying to soak up a spill, minimising costs to just a few emergency spill kit refills after the event.

• Comply with COSHH Regulations: Meet your obligations under COSHH 2002 Section 7, which requires you to protect your employees against exposure to substances that may be hazardous to their health.
